Democratic Institute Chief
17-11-2008
Badrtimes - His eminence Sayed Ammar Al-Hakeem, on Monday afternoon November
17, 2008, in the special office of His Eminence Sayed Al- Hakeem, Head
of the Iraqi Islamic Supreme Council and Leader of the United Iraqi
Alliance bloc in Baghdad, received Ms. Francesca Benda, Chief of
National Democratic Institute (NDI).
During the
meeting, the elections and mechanisms to support the Iraqi voter and
candidate have been researched. Ms. Francesca has confirmed the need to
have a joint document between the political parties to determine the
commitment to the professionalism of democracy in the electoral process,
referring that the survey data made recently proved that there is a
significant change in priorities and demands of the Iraqi citizen as
envisaged by the security improvement and stability of the situation
that the Iraqi arena witnessed.
His eminence
Sayed Ammar Al-Hakeem, from his side, stressed that the understanding of
democracy varies between peoples due to the conditions and phases that
they do through, hoping that the upcoming elections would be free of
fraud and use of violence because they are contrary to the democratic
process in Iraq, stressing the importance of submitting different
programs for parties as an electoral propaganda and that the competition
should be in the framework of these programs.
